…As Reps member flays attack on supporters
As the 2027 elections gathers moment, the people of Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State, had defiled every opposition and intimidation by the state actors and the security operatives as they unanimously adopted Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere as their consensus candidate for Ideato North/South Federal Constituency Seat.
The people took the binding political decision during a rally on Tuesday, at Christ Anglican Church, Ntueke, Ideato South.
Speaking, President, Ideato South Political Forum, Prince Borosky Okpara, noted that the adoption of Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere for reelection in 2027 by the thoughtful people of Ideato South was to sustain quality, all- encompassing representation, youth empowerment and infrastructural development in the Constituency which they mentioned were gained by him within three years in office.
“We, the members of Ideato South Political Forum, speaking with one united voice, on behalf of the good and descerning people of Ideato South Local Government Area, hereby make this unequivocal declaration.
“After extensive consultation across communities, stakeholders, youths, elders and political actors, we have unanimously resolved to adopt Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere as the sole candidate to represent Ideato North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and APP as consensus party.
“Ideato South will not sacrifice quality leadership on the alter of zoning. We have chosen progress over politics, substance over slogans and results over rhetorics.
“Ugochinyere has distinguished himself as a courageous, effective and people – oriented representative, whose voice resonates, not just within Ideato, but across Nigeria and global stage.
“His track record in representation, advocacy and service delivery is both visible and verifiable.
“For those still attempting to fan the embers of division under the guise of zoning, we say this respectfully, but firmly: the time for that conversation has passed. The people have spoken. We call on political stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups and all well-meaning citizens to align with this position in the interest of unity, continuity and accelerated development.
“Any attempt to undermine this collective decision is a direct affront to the will of the people of Ideato South. We stand united, we stand resolute, we stand with Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere”, the people maintained.
Responding to the endorsement, the Rep Member, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, said no amount of intimidation by the security operatives and the APC could stop him from rendering quality representation to the people of Ideato North/South Federal Constituency, who he said deserve better living – and are yet to recover from the earlier genocide which he accused the state actors of unleashing against innocent indigenes.
Ugochinyere who urged the people of Ideato not to be perturbed nor disuaded of the illicit act by the security personnel and the APC due to their crave for good leadership, totally condemned what he tagged as unprofessional and inhuman actions demonically demonstrated by the security operatives who he said shot live bullets, tear-gassed and blocked the people from accessing the venue of the rally which drew over 20,000 supporters and APP members.
